Salvador "Buddy" Ching is a full time multi-awarded painter, installation and performance artist. Ching paints images he sees in his community. He paints people and nature by incorporating earthy tones into mixed media and art installations using indigenous materials. In his art, Ching wants his audience not only to look but also to engage and read the story behind every piece. He prefers using acrylic and printmaking techniques in his works. Aside from painting, he is busy conducting art workshops in the Philippines and overseas.
To date, Ching has held eleven solo exhibits. His exhibits have been featured in prestigious venues such as Cultural Centre of the Philippines. He has received numerous awards and citations in major competitions in the Philippines.
He was one of five Philippine representatives to the ASEAN Youth Painting Workshop and Exhibition in Indonesia. He has participated in Asian Bienalle, Art exhibitions in Havana, Cuba, Bangladesh, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong and the USA.
Ching is a member of the prestigious Saturday Art Group, Philippine Association of Print Makers and was also an executive member of the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Philippines.
A graduate of the University of Santo Tomas with a degree in Fine Arts Major in Painting. He started performance art in 1999 in various exhibition openings, TUPADA International Action Art Event and (PIPAF) Philippine International Art Festival.
