Project name and description
SAM PENASO is a multi-disciplicary artist that dabbles in painting, sculpture and performance art.
He has held more than 25 solo exhibitions, seven of which were held in Japan, Thailand, Austria, Germany, UK, Singapore, New York, USA and Abu Dhabi, UAE.
He has also been a recipient of several Art grants including Asian Cultural Council (ACC) and the International Studio and the Curatorial Program in New York and The Thailand-Philippines Art Exchange Program in Bangkok, Thailand.
He has also garnered major art awards here and abroad since 1996 among them were First Prize in 2014 and 2016 GSIS Art Competition, 2013 Finalist at Winter Grand Salon Show in New York, First Prize in 2012 Art Association of the Philippines Annual Art Competition, Finalist in 2006 Beppu Asia Bianalle of Contemporary Art in Japan and Third prize in 2001 for Metrobank Young Painter's Annual Art Competition to name a few.
He has also performed in several local and international performance art, most notably are his "Stripewalker" series and Tupada International Action Art Events from 2002 up to present.
Penaso is a visual artist and performance artist from Guidulman, Bohol. He finished his Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree Major in Advertising at Technological University of the Philippines.
